First, every system experiences some shading at some point during the day from cloud cover and Enphase tolerates shading better than others.

Second, shading is only a part of the story. Think dirt, leaves, scratches, snow, panel degradation..

Third, even if you keep your panels spotlessly clean, wear and tear won’t happen uniformly, and temperature differences occur naturally. No matter what, you’ll deal with panels operating at different levels of efficiency (an occurrence known as module mismatch). Yes you can.
The micro inverters will work just fine without an Envoy but you will not be able to monitor the system, warranty issues could arise and under G98 regulations a Envoy must be installed to all grid tied systems in the UK

If you have a WPS button on your router then it could not be simpler.

1 – Press and hold the WPS button on your wireless router for two seconds. On many routers, the WPS button flashes at this point.

2 – Return to the Envoy. Press and hold the Envoy WPS button below the phone icon for 5 seconds. WPS mode will not be enabled if the button is held for less than 5 seconds. When WPS mode is enabled the LED next to the phone icon will flash green.

If the connection is successful, within two minutes the top LED with the cloud icon will light up solid green.

If it lights up solid green then you’re back online.

Your system now needs to re-sync its data, which can take anywhere from an hour to a few days depending on how long your system was offline.

What to do if the connection was not successful.
If the top LED does not light up solid green, the connection may have timed out before you completed steps 1 and 2 above. Walk through both steps again, trying to complete all steps within a two-minute window.

If you are unable to re-establish a wi-fi connection using the steps above, try to establish a connection using Manual Network Setup. See the video, right, for simple to follow instructions.

Enphase microinverters are used in over 100 countries around the world. From Australia to Alaska and everywhere in between.
This means that they operate in very cold, very hot and very humid climates — without fail.

How does Enphase achieve this?
Enphase really puts their microinverters through the most rigorous tests. Every micro generation is put through 1,000,000 (yes, that’s 1 million) power-on hours of testing before it is released. This testing includes cycling microinverters from -40°C to 85°C over 1,000 times in specialised test centre.
They are exposed to heat and dampness for hours on end, and they even get dropped from a hight of 2 meters multiple times. Once Enphase has established the microinverters survive all that, and don’t drop any of their performance, they go into production.

But Enphase doesn’t stop there.
Each day microinverters are taken from the production line and tested at Enphase labs in California and New Zealand. This rigorous, continuous testing ensures that Enphase microinverters stand the test of time.

The Electric Power Research Institute agrees – string inverters fail at greater rates than microinverters.
String inverters have to be replaced at least once throughout the life of a system. In fact, string inverters are responsible for 50% of all solar lifecycle maintenance costs.

Solar panels work throughout the year, come rain or shine.
But solar panels do produce less energy in winter due to shorter days, lower sun in the sky and the good old British weather.
Solar panels will produce electricity in most daylight conditions but the stronger the light the more power.
Panels also tend to make more power on colder clear blue sky days than hotter. Einstein did the physics on this and he seems to be right about most things.
It is not just the panel that is needed to create electricity for the home. You also need an inverter. The inverter changes the DC current to AC which our homes need. The better the inverter, the more power. Enphase micro inverters excel at producing SAFE AC voltage and with their patented Burst Technology, more power in low light due to their very low start up voltage.
