The AlphaESS SMILE-G3 Inverter

The AlphaESS SMILE-G3 inverter is the core control unit of the AlphaESS home energy storage system. It manages power from the solar panels, battery storage and the grid, helping the property use solar energy as efficiently as possible.

The inverter is available in a range of sizes, including 3.6kW, 5kW and 8kW single phase options, with larger three phase options also available for higher demand properties. It can be used as part of a new solar and battery installation, or in certain setups as an AC coupled battery system added to an existing solar installation.

The SMILE-G3 inverter is designed to intelligently control when energy is used, stored or imported from the grid. This allows the system to prioritise solar self consumption, charge batteries during cheaper electricity periods where suitable, and reduce reliance on expensive grid energy.

AlphaESS SMILE-G3 Battery

The AlphaESS SMILE-G3 battery is the storage component of the system. It stores excess electricity generated by the solar panels so it can be used later in the day, overnight, or during peak electricity pricing.

The system can be paired with either 4.8kWh or 9.6kWh battery modules, allowing the storage capacity to be sized around the property’s usage. Additional batteries can also be added, making the system scalable if energy demand increases in the future.

The batteries include features such as battery heating, fire suppression, dynamic balancing and automatic state of charge calibration. These features help support performance, safety and long term reliability, while giving the homeowner a smarter way to manage their stored energy.

AlphaESS Backup Gateway

The AlphaESS Backup Gateway is an optional component designed to provide backup power capability during a grid outage. It acts as the connection point between the inverter, battery system, property circuits and the grid.

When installed as part of a suitable AlphaESS system, the backup gateway can allow selected circuits in the home to continue operating during a power cut, using stored battery energy or available solar generation.

This makes the system particularly useful for customers who want greater energy security, not just lower electricity bills. It adds another layer of protection and flexibility, helping the property remain powered even when the grid is unavailable.

The AlphaESS app gives homeowners clear visibility and control over their solar and battery system. AlphaESS EV AC Charger

The AlphaESS EV AC Charger is a smart home electric vehicle charging solution designed to work alongside the AlphaESS SMILE-G3 energy storage system. It allows homeowners to charge their electric vehicle at home while making better use of their solar generation and stored battery energy.

The AlphaESS SMILE-G3 range includes a single phase 7kW EV charger option, suitable for most residential EV charging requirements. For suitable three phase properties, AlphaESS also offers an 11kW EV charger option, giving faster charging capability where the electrical supply allows.

When integrated with a solar and battery system, the EV charger can help reduce reliance on grid electricity by making use of available renewable energy. This gives homeowners a more efficient and convenient way to charge their vehicle, while keeping more control over their household energy usage.

Installed as part of a complete AlphaESS system by The Solar People, the EV charger can be combined with solar panels, battery storage and smart monitoring to create a more joined-up home energy solution.
