Why use Air Source Heat Pumps?
An air source heat pump is an incredibly efficient electric heating system that absorbs heat from the air and then uses a small amount of electricity to compress this ambient heat and therefore increase its temperature.
The increase in temperature is achieved using very little electricity. This heat is then used for space and water heating in your home.
A typical air source heat pump can use just 1Kw of electricity to achieve 3Kw of heat.
The Uk is signed u to the Paris Climate Agreement and therefore we must stop using fossil fuels. Gas, Oil, LPG are fossil fuels. Electricity can come from a renewable source such as solar panels or wind. Just as more and more people are moving to electric cars so more people are installing air source heat pumps.
The Government launched The Renewable Heat Incentive to kick start this technology just as they did with the Feed in Tariff for Solar Panels. We know what a great success that was.
Unfortunately, just like the FIT, the RHI will come to an end. It, along with the Green Homes Grant is available right now but is going fast.
