What size air conditioning unit is needed?
The size of the room or the area you are looking to cool will determine the size of the air conditioning unit. To ensure you have the best size unit we will need to understand how much light you also get, as this might affect the size.
What do I get with an air conditioning system?
We will supply and install an indoor and outdoor unit. All our systems come with a remote control to operate the air conditioning system.
Where does the outside unit get installed?
The outdoor unit of an air conditioning system should go in a well-ventilated area, on a solid, level surface or wall mounted, and should be easily accessible for maintenance. It needs ample clearance from walls, fences, and shrubbery (around 1 meter or more is a good guideline).
How long does installation take?
Most single room wall mounted systems are fitted in a day. Multi room or more complex pipe runs may take one to two days. We confirm timings after a quick survey.
How noisy are the units?
Modern indoor units are very quiet and comparable to a whisper on low fan speed. The outdoor unit sits outside and meets UK noise guidelines.
Will an air conditioner also heat my home?
Yes. All our systems are heat pumps so they provide efficient heating as well as cooling.
What will it cost to run?
Running cost depends on room size, set temperature and your electricity rate. Heat pumps are efficient so you get more heating or cooling than the electricity they use. They are perfect for homes with solar panels and / or a battery storage device.
What size system do I need for my room?
Sizing is based on room size, insulation and window heat gain. As a guide most bedrooms and home offices need 2.0 to 2.5 kW and lounges need 3.5 to 5.0 kW. We size it properly so it runs quietly and efficiently.
Can one outdoor unit run multiple rooms?
Yes. A multi split system can connect several indoor units to a single outdoor unit. It is neat, quiet and ideal when space outside is limited.
Do I need planning permission?
Most installs are permitted development on houses. Flats, listed buildings and conservation areas can be different. We check and advise before work starts.
What if I move house?
You can leave the system for the next owner or we can decommission and reinstall it professionally. We will advise on the best option.
